Like all Homework Diners, the evening is free and open to all families with a K-12 student in the district. Come enjoy dinner and fellowship amongst friends, teachers, and students in community and hear from our talented Poet Laureate at Asheville Middle School.
This is a know your rights workshop for citizens that will give information around interacting with law enforcement when stopped, at your place of residency, and as a pedestrian. This takes place as part of the regularly scheduled Homework Diners at Asheville Middle School. Food, child care, tutoring and interpretation will be provided.
Through a partnership with the United Way, Enka Middle School will host Homework Diners every Tuesday this school year! A free dinner is served to all families who attend, from 5:30 - 7:00, and tutors are on hand to help students of any grade with homework. That's right, any grade! Even though this is hosted at Enka Middle, it is for students from any school in the Enka-Candler district.

Along with Erwin, Homework Diner is held at Asheville, Owen, and Enka Middle Schools. TRENDING COVID-19 outbreaks reported at 2 long-term care facilities in Buncombe County.
The Homework Diner is part of a larger initiative to promote middle school success, and to prepare students for high school, community leadership, and ultimately college or career. Owen is the latest middle school to participate in the pilot program, joining Enka, Erwin and Asheville.
It’s one of many K-12 programs that the campus community participates in, with the Key Center for Community Engaged Learning at UNC Asheville leading additional opportunities such as weekly Homework Diners, in partnership with the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. These opportunities can be just as fulfilling for the campus volunteers as they are for the participants.
